Senator Mark R. Warner was joined in Norfolk by local Longshoremen and Seafarers to call for the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. The Ex- port-Import Bank has assisted more than 100 Virginia-based companies in securing loans since 2007, providing jobs across the Commonwealth and supporting the transport of goods and cargo to the Port of Virginia. At the event, Senator Warner made his support for the Export-Import Bank clear: “We cannot make Virginia’s businesses compete in the global economy with one arm tied behind their back. In today’s world, where goods in America are sold on every continent, we need to make sure that we do everything we can to give Virginian companies the chance to be competitive.” While Ed Gillespie has called for the elimination of the Export-Import Bank, Senator Warner remains a strong supporter of the bank’s work to help Vir- ginia companies finance more than $1 billion in export activity since 2007.
