ookstart is a national programme that encourages all parents and carers to share and enjoy books with children from as early an age as possible. Every child is entitled to two free Bookstart packs containing books and helpful guidance for parents and carers.

given out by your health visitor at the 6-9 month health contact or at your library.


Bookstart Treasure pack – given to your 3 year old child by their pre-school, nursery or library.


For visually or hearing impaired children Bookshine and Booktouch packs are also available. For children with disabilities that impact on or delay the development of fine motor skills Bookstart Star packs are now also available.
