After such a magnificent summer, we seem fortunately to be creeping quite slowly into the chill of autumn. City solicitors however are moving at their customary frenetic pace, always mindful of the prevailing economic climate. Our professional Committees have used the last few long summer days most usefully. This edition of CitySolicitor carries several detailed reports that amply demonstrate the sheer industry of our Committees. Such commitment is to be admired, and we are grateful to our Committee Chairmen for taking the time to produce such comprehensive and interesting reports. Readers will also be aware that much of the work of the Committees is also posted on our website, much of which has been redesigned - details in this edition. This edition heralds what is likely to be only the start of a year of celebration of the Mayoralty of Alderman Fiona Woolf who will be installed as the 686th Lord Mayor in November. Fiona is of course a Past President of the Law Society, currently the Junior Warden of the Company, and aside from her legal career, the holder of offices in various charities.
