Benvenuti a Bolsena
Osservando Bolsena ed il suo lago, il più grande in Europa di origine vulcanica, si ha subito l’impressione che la natura si sia impegnata nel rendere questa terra unica: un luogo dove i principale elementi si sono fusi insieme costruendo un panorama irripetibile. Alle soglie della storia
la civiltà deiVILLANOVIANI fondò presso le acque di rive opposte due grandi abitati, in epoca etrusca il lago fu conteso tra due grandi città/ stato diVulci e diVolsini, qui nacquero ed ebbero fine le vite di Santa Cristina e di Amalasunta, regine dei Longobardi, qui passarono lungo la via FRANCIGENA del pellegrinaggio e sostarono grandi personaggi del
Medioevo.Bolsena, resa celebre dal MIRACOLO EUCARISTICO (1263) del CORPUS DOMINI, poi dominata dalla famiglia deiMonaldeschi, nobilitata dagli artisti e dai monumenti voluti da Giovanni deMedici, ed immersa in una lussureggiante vegetazione, può essere considerata la “Signora del Lago”, offrendo anche la possibilità di praticare diversi tipi di sport, fare escursioni, ricercare e godere di innumerevoli panorami.A voi, come primo cittadino, apro le porte della mia città, orgoglioso di ospitare l’apertura e la chiusura della manifestazione delWORLD CARP CLASSIC 2013 presso il nostro Teatro San Francesco. Porgo il benvenuto a nome mio, dell’Amministrazione, della cittadinanza bolsenese, all’organizzatore Mr. RossHoney, ai suoi collaboratori, lo staff tutto, ai partecipanti, aiMedia, consapevole dell’importanza internazionale dell’
evento.Auguro a tutte le squadre una pesca fruttuosa, nel rispetto del nostro ambiente e tradizioni,ma anche momenti di allegria e convivialità all’insegna della nostra più cordiale accoglienza.

Looking at Bolsena and its lake, the largest in Europe of volcanic origin, you will quickly get the impression that nature is committed in making this unique land, a place where the main elements are fused together by building a unique landscape. On the threshold of the
history of theVillanovan civilization, founded by the waters on opposite sides, were two large inhabited places in Etruscan times. The lake was fought over between two major cities/ state ofVulci andVolsini were born here and the lives of Santa Cristina and Amalasunta, queens of the Lombards, came to an end. Here they passed along the Via Francigena pilgrimage route and many great
personalities of theMiddle Ages paused here. Bolsena,made famous by the EucharisticMiracle
(1263) in Corpus Christie, then dominated by theMonaldeschi family, ennobled by artists and monuments desired by Giovanni deMedici, and surrounded by lush vegetation, can be considered the “Lady of the Lake” while offering the opportunity to practice different kinds of sports, hiking, hunting and the enjoyment of countless views. To you, as mayor, I open the doors of my city, proud
to host the opening and closing ceremonies of theWorld Carp Classic 2013 at our Teatro di San Francesco. I welcome you on behalf of myself, the
