A warm welcome awaits you at Bearsted Club

SITUATED on Bearsted Green in the heart of the old village, Bearsted and Thurnham Club has a history dating back more than a hundred years. Now a flourishing private members’ club, it

started life in a house and on moving to its existing premises, installed what was then a luxury feature – a bath. In 1906, this was very important to the farming community as members could pop in to recover from a hard day’s work in the fields.

Since those early days, our friendly club has gone from strength to strength while constantly improving and updating its facilities.

The club membership is open to males but both men and women guests are welcome at all times.

As a free house, not tied to any brewery, it can offer a wide selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, including guest ales, at keen prices. A selection of hot food and snacks are also available. The comfortable lounge is shortly to be brought up to an even higher decorative standard.

Sports fans can watch all the action on two

large TVs – a 60” plasma screen and a 47” LED. The club has a Sky and BT sports package and shows all the big events including football, rugby, golf and horse racing.

The newly refurbished snooker room has two top class tables hosting regular inter- club tournaments and the club has teams in the Kent League. There is also a weekly bridge club and Texas Hold ‘Em poker is played regularly.

A wide range of regular entertainment is on offer including live bands, quiz nights and poker tournaments and there are also external club events such as golf tournaments, days at the races and coach trips to the continent. Free WiFi is available, also serving the patio area overlooking The Green, and the club also has the latest high jackpot fruit machines.

The club can accommodate members’ celebrations such as birthdays and anniversaries and a room is available for non-member functions and meetings.

A recent race night raised enough funds for the club to buy a defibrillator to be kept outside the front of the building. All local businesses will be given an access code.

Every August Bank Holiday, the club plays a cricket match against Bearsted Cricket Club, which has raised more than £15,000 for charity since the annual challenge began in 2005.
