LARGE OIL REFINERY COMPRESSOR ARRIVES AS KRASNOYARSK CELEBRATES ‘RUSSIAN AIR FLEET DAY’

The arrival of a 95-ton compressor onboard a Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ AN-124-100 freighter from Vladivostok coincided with a day of celebrations in the city of Krasnoyarsk in honour of the ‘Russian Air Fleet’.

Destined for an oil refinery, the large compressor was airlifted on behalf of Transafe Logistics. In order to distribute the weight of the shipment in the AN-124’s cargo hold, Volga-Dnepr’s engineers used special loading equipment weighing 16 tons.

The ‘Ruslan’ freighter touched down at Emelyanovo Airport in Krasnoyarsk on the same day that local citizens had organised a special festival at the airport in honour of Russian aviation. The compressor was offloaded using three mobile cranes and

was then transported to the Achinsky Oil Refinery, the biggest refinery in the Kransnoyarsk Krai region.

Volga-Dnepr Airlines and Transafe Logistics JSC have been cooperating on such complex logistics projects for several years. Together the two companies

have organised such deliveries as the transportation of General Electric 60-ton rotor turbines for the Surgut-2 Power Station from Moscow to Surgut, Russia, and the movement of a 50-ton outsize oil refinery compressor for an isomerization system from Narita, Japan to Omsk in Russia.
