Enter the ABA Section of International Law’s Rona R. Mears Student Writing Competition & Scholarship Awards. Topic of Essay: Edward Joseph Snowden.


Present legal arguments on why Mr. Snowden is guilty or alternatively not guilty of violating U.S., foreign or international laws. Present legal arguments on why the U.S. government has violated or alternatively has not violated U.S., foreign or international law through its actions disclosed by Mr. Snowden.


The winning submissions will be published by the Section and will receive:


• Best Written Submission: $1,000 cash prize, or iPad and accessories up to $1,000.


• Best Video Submission: $1,000 cash prize, or iPad and accessories up to $1,000.


• Both winners will receive up to $1,000 free meeting registration to the Spring Meeting, coach airfare (21 day advance purchase) and lodging. Travel costs will be reimbursed after the Spring Meeting. Any taxes due on cash awards are the responsibility of the winners.


• Most Submissions: international law society in the institution submitting the largest number of total submissions (with each written submission and each video submission counting as one) will receive $500.
