Patricia Perry’s “Little Show” at the Fire House Gallery. Perry is a U.S. born oil painter who has spent many years in Europe studying and immersing herself in the art. Her painting, she says, is inspired by the works of Goya, Rembrandt, Turner, and
Blake. “Little Shows” is a monthly
offering at the gallery which highlights the work of one of its 70 local and regional artists. This endeavor is funded in part by a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Fire House Gallery is located in the Berryville Main Street headquarters at 23 East Main Street Berryville. Visit

Usually when runners write about a race, a theme emerges. But, this small, much-loved event was described as moving, fun, inspiring and tough. Much of the half-marathon course loops through Antietam, a Civil War site that was home to the bloodiest battle in U.S. history. Runners pass canons and memorials and the rolling green hills are scenic, calming-and frequent. But as race director and Air Force Reservist Mark Cucuzella, M.D., says, “Remember, freedom wasn’t easy either.” Your eff orts are rewarded at the merry fi nish-line.
