HRM's Photo of the Month Hampton University Students Tutor Library Youth


Youth at Pearl Bailey Library got extra help in math and science this school year. Six pharmaceutical students from Hampton University tutored youth one-on-one from Nov. 27, 2012, to April 23 at the Pearl Bailey Library. The tutoring was available for youth ages 6-18 in math and science every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. The program ended April 23 with a surprise reception, during which Pearl Bailey youth and staff thanked the Hampton University students. “I really appreciated the help that the tutors gave me. They really helped me improve my grades in my classes and helped me study for my SOLs,” said DeAndre Newson. “They always made sure we stayed on track and got our work done.”
