Judges conduct winter meeting in NLR


Te County Judges Association of Arkansas held its two-day winter meeting in February in North Little Rock. Judges from around the state gathered north of the river to vote on their legislative package for the 89th Arkansas General Assembly, conduct general sessions, hear financial reports and listen to numerous speakers. Speaker of the House Davy Carter led off the speakers lineup on Mon- day at the opening breakfast. Carter previewed the session and fielded questions about Medicaid expansion, the Big River Steel Mill project and tax decreases and revenue projections.


Arkansas Highway Transportation Department State Aid Engineer


David Mayo presented information concerning state aid funding and the impact it can have on counties. He explained the details of how the state aid program works and how judges can use it. Judges also visited the Capitol and hosted a legislative reception at the


AAC building. Senate President Pro Tempore Michael Lamoureux highlighted Tues-


day’s speakers. Judges also heard from the Arkansas Department of Vet- eran Affairs and Legislative Audit.
