MULTIMODAL 2013 Preview Britain’s best freight show keeps on getting bigger

The UK and Ireland’s leading transport and logistics event NEC Brimingham • 23-25 April 2013

Multimodal 2013 is set to be the biggest since its launch six years ago. Visitor registrations for the UK and Ireland’s leading supply chain event, which takes place 23-25th April at the Birmingham NEC, are up 25% on last year, with over 270 exhibitors, three days of free-to- attend seminars and workshops and a Shippers’ Pavilion. Show director, Robert Jervis says:

“Multimodal is a proven platform for cementing existing business relationships and introducing new solutions to help freight buyers run slick supply chains.” This year, Multimodal has

teamed up with the Freight Transport Association (FTA) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) to create a three-day seminar programme delivering invaluable expert advice. Top

speakers include

Justin Kirkhope, The Co-operative Food; David Parry, Argos; Jacob Sterling, head of environment and corporate social responsibility, Maersk

Line; Geoff Lippitt,

PD Ports; and Tim Robinson, Freight Director, Network Rail, as well as speakers from Kerry Logistics, ICHCA, Barclays, AEB International, the CILT, the FTA, BIFA, and The Supply Chain Academy. Sessions on carbon reduction,

financing the supply chain, declaration of container weights,

port-centric solutions, controlling freight rates, Customs compliance, ocean contracts, modal shiſt and the challenge of multichannel retail are all now bookable on-line at www.multimodal.org.uk “Freight buyers face daily

tough decisions in a difficult financial landscape, with the added pressures of new legislation, compliance issues, and shiſting modal trends,” says seminar producer, Emma Murray. “We are delighted that so many industry leaders will be joining the sessions to share their expertise and help decision makers tackle today’s supply chain challenges.” Trade Extensions will also be

holding supply chain simulations using the MIT “Beer Game”. During the informal sessions, participants will both learn, and be reminded in some cases, of just how difficult supply chains can be, even the apparently simple task of getting beer to the consumer. New exhibitors at the free-to-

attend show include MSC, The Port of Felixstowe, Montgomery Transport Group, Greencarrier, Owens Transport and Ceva. They join leading logistics and supply chain names, including DSV, Autostore, Dachser, Malcolm Logistics, P&O Ferrymasters, DP World London Gateway, DB

Schenker, Wincanton, BoxTop Technologies, Freightliner, UFS Freight Services, Stena Line and Montracon. The event will once again host the Shippers’ Village, which

will provide dedicated meeting and

networking facilities for

companies including Dunelm Mill, SABMiller, Cabot, Kellogg’s, Mars, Tesco, Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Steel to hold valuable supplier

meetings. “Attending Multimodal provides the opportunity to

you with

compare your suppliers, strategies and modes and network with cargo owners,” says Jervis. “It is a one-stop-

shop for shippers who need to find ways of optimising their supply chain and transportation flow.” Registration to the show and

seminar sessions is free, visit www.multimodal.org.uk.
