Well Hello, Gorgeous! What a delightful spring so far here in Southern California. February was packed
with activity and excitement. A huge shout-out to all the amazing folks who help raise buckets for a lovely couple dealing with cancer on February
16.Landon Cider hosted the benefit show. Kings, queens and hundreds of wonderful supporters packed it out. That, combined with additional funds raised by The Brunchettes the following day, helped to push it to $3,000. Justin Rudd and his community action team held theRed High Heels Walk for
Heart Health in Belmont Shores also in February, a total blast. Walking down the street in full drag at noon is always an exciting feat. Over a hundred supporters showed up and the sea of red heels was a beautiful sight. March begins with the Imperial Court of Long Beach’s Coronation Ball!
The event is at the beautiful Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport on Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3 and coronation theme is, “A Dark Knight In Chinatown, A Chinese New Year Fantasy.” The lovely Sabreena is this year’s candidate for the Empress title! Basket, which seeks to bring joy and hope to children in desperate situations in Long Beach by collecting gift-filled Easter Baskets containing items such as: small toys, school supplies, hygiene products (toothbrushes, shampoo) essential clothing items, (socks, underwear) and Easter candy. Drop off baskets or donate items on Thursday and Friday, March 28 and 29 at preferred drop-off times: Bay Shore Church on Belmont Shore on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. or on Good Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers are also needed. Rounding up the month of March is one of my favorite yearly events, The 16th
Annual Easter Hat and Heels Walk. Each year a fabulous group of drag queens and kings, bunnies, sisters, leather men and other assorted creatures, walk through Long Beach selling “eggs” and raising funds for the C.A.R.E. Program at St Mary’s Hospital. The C.A.R.E. program provides services and health care to those affected with HIV and AIDS. This fundraiser is a blast and we welcome all to join the fun on Easter Sunday, March 31. Kick-off is at Hamburger Mary’s Long Beach and we walk from bar to bar throughout the day, with stops at Broadway Cocktails, Sweetwater Saloon, The Falcon, Mineshaft, The Brit and Paradise ending in a huge party at the Silver Fox! May this spring bring you all good health, hope and happiness! I’m looking forward to seeing YOU out and about!
