Like the Olympic torch, City Security magazine has now gone nationwide...
A
fter many years planning and preparation, London 2012 is finally here and in this issue we put the spotlight on security at the summer Olympics
and Paralympics. The cover page shows military wives carrying the Olympic Flame and we are delighted to welcome to the pages of City Security magazine Assistant Commissioner Chris Allison, the National Security Co-ordinator for London 2012, who talks about security readiness for the Games. And we feature David Evans, Project Director 2012 from the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) on how businesses can keep disruptions to a minimum. Also included is the Cross-sector Safety and Communications (CSSC) partnership being used to share information with businesses during the Games. The pan-London security operation for Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee enabled many organisations to identify any possible issues for the Olympics and Paralympics. Building on this, we wish success to all organisations involved in law enforcement and security who are playing their part in ensuring a successful and safe London 2012.
As well as Olympic issues, this edition is packed with a wide range of articles: we speak with Jeff Little, CEO of the NSI on his thoughts on the future of the security industry; the increasing problem with metal theft is explored and preventative measures discussed in an article by British Transport Police. There is a thought-provoking article on the increasing role of women in the security industry.
Looking to the future… we are media partners at Global Security Summit at London’s Olympia in October, where the autumn edition will be available to the many thousands of security professionals attending. We also have some advertising spaces still available for this edition. We are always interested in your views on the magazine and any ideas you have for articles, so please contact us at

We hope you enjoy the read.
