“...Yorkshire and Humber equips itself with the

necessary skills to maintain its position as a

forerunner in UK manufacturing.”

Welcome to the fourth issue of The Quarterly Journal.

We are pleased to announce the release of our latest Technical Insight – ‘Life Extension in Oil & Gas’. Listed under the members section of our website, it serves to explore the threats to materials integrity used in the construction of offshore and subsea infrastructure. This vast topic has not yet been exhausted and as such NAMTEC will be running a series of training courses and events to raise awareness and help fill the gaps in the market.

May has been a very busy month for training. This is something that has been echoed throughout the region as Yorkshire and Humber equips itself with the necessary skills to maintain its position as a forerunner in UK manufacturing. Training in Aberdeen at the Oil & Gas UK offices has been a great success along with our bespoke training. Several major players in the manufacturing industry have seized this great opportunity to tailor courses to suit their needs.

An event not to be missed is ‘Machining of Hard to Machine Metals’ on the 27th June. Delegates will be treated to the most up-to-date solutions to machining challenges from key players in the industry. Confirmed speakers include

Sandvik Coromant, Craftsman Tools, Wilde Analysis and AMRC.

Following that, we have AREVA Wind– ‘Meet the Buyer’ on the 12th July at the Advanced Manufacturing Institute. Delegates will gain first-hand information about AREVA’s offshore wind activities, their focus in the UK and potential opportunities for the UK supply chain. Meanwhile, the Offshore Wind Update on pages 14-15 gives more information on the ambitious UK targets for the sector and actions being implemented to bring them to fruition.

We hope to see you soon.
