Mine’s a pepperoni, with extra pepperoni Pza a izmn is a community based project set in Cardiff. It came together after a Facebook group,

organised by Kapaw Media, asked for ideas for a new internet drama series that Kapaw proposed to make. The concept of basing the series on a Welsh Asian Pizza delivery driver came about after much deliberation. Over the year that followed, three story arcs were devised and fifteen episodes ranging from five to ten minutes in length were written. Over sixteen days in August 2009P

za a

was filmed on location all over Cardiff and occasionally further afield. 39 actors came in and out of proceedings to film the 121 scenes on 43 separate locations.

The story follows two weeks in the life of Taj, delivery driver at the fictitious Pizzaman Pizza outlet. Episode 1 opens with Taj on his final shift before he is due to go travelling, only to discover his girlfriend, Becky, doesn’t want to go any more. With this resting heavy on his mind, he happens to get into a small traffic incident with a Welsh Assembly Minister. Unfortunately this leads to Taj having to continue to work for Pizzaman Pizza in order to pay off his insurance excess. We discover things are not necessarily what they seem with a decidedly dodgy shop manager and a less than honest Welsh Assembly Minister both causing problems for Taj.

Additionally, we meet new characters as Taj, or his wannabe rapper delivery friend, Gethin, deliver to them. People like Cathy in episode 9, a counsellor who’s at the point of a funny turn and persuades Taj to run away with her. Taj even has a new driver shadow him on a shift; the new driver happens to be a cheeky student he delivered to in a previous episode. Each episode is littered with interesting and developed characters as viewed in the snap shot fashion of door-to-door delivery.

Each episode is named after an area of Cardiff and designed to fit into a bespoke website currently under construction. Although not billed as a comedy there are very comical elements in a number of the 15 episodes. The music throughout the series is original, unsigned and sourced locally from South Wales based artists featuring everything from rap to ambience, indie bands to electronic beats.

As the stories unfold people get their comeuppances, and Becky eventually reveals why she doesn’t want to go travelling, in this neatly packaged web product.P will be released some time in the next few months.
