Arriving without a penny, I spent my first few days in south London clearing out an artist’s bedroom. He had recently died. You could easily tell by his belongings & room that he had given up on life long before he had left us. He wasn’t old. I stayed there for a while. Life’s fine lines had been too clear for too long in & around that time for me & music had kind of left me too, not for the first time either. When it came back, as it does, I began writing more than ever & I took my guitar out to busk along the Thames. It was winter, but I made enough to be able to eat & the music felt new. I have used one take live scenarios along with various mediums to extend the music beyond gigs & avoid studios as I felt that way of doing things represented clearly who I was as an artist. I have kept myself to myself musically for many years apart from gigs I have played & promoted, but I’ve been reaching out a lot more lately as it has been difficult to maintain the time & space needed for progress, I kind of felt forced to, it was either that or give in. It has brought good things.


There can’t be many artists who have gigged as much & recorded as little as myself. My focus is now on recording & for the first time it feels like the right thing to do.
