China winner Nico Rosberg was fourth in the Mercedes AMG w03, with
Michael Schumacher claiming seventh in the sister car. Ominously for their rivals, Mercedes powered drivers hogged six of the top seven positions by the end of the morning. Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean were ninth and tenth respectively
in the Lotus E20, the pair showing strong pace throughout the session and only dropping down the order when the Mercedes brigade turned up the wick late on in the session.
