Old Mill News Alan Stone,
Associate Director, Marketing
Spring is well on the way – by the time this is read the current profusion of snowdrops will have been replaced by the yellows of primroses and daffodils. It is a time of year which seems to lead inevitably to a lifting of the spirits.
Fresh from the wonderful news of winning the Best Small Adviser of the Year we continue to build our planning teams to further improve our offering to you – our clients.
In Exeter our team is going great guns with Barry Martin now in place alongside fellow planner Phillipa Frost. They are backed by an impressive support team with Stuart Combe being joined by two administrators, Ellen Palmer and Kate Woodruff. Plans are already being worked on by Barry to lead a seminar on investment issues during the spring – please check
www.oldmillgroup.co.uk/events for details.
In Dorchester Kevin Thomas has already got his feet under the table and has been writing articles for the local press. His back-up team is
also developing; with Lisa Pinch due to start maternity leave at the end of April we are delighted to have recruited the experienced Melanie Andrews to assist him.
In Shepton we have been sad to lose Greg Moss. Cheerful Greg made a huge impression on us in his two years with Old Mill, ever smiling, even when he broke his foot and was on crutches for months. With his young family he found an opportunity to return to his native Pembrokeshire too much to resist. However with Jonathan Orchard being promoted to Consultant and Will Thompson to Trainee Consultant there is still plenty of youthful enthusiasm in the team.
Old Mill staff have been busy supporting a number of Charity events over the winter – anything to keep warm. In December we entered two teams in an abseil from a viaduct in Shepton Mallet to raise funds for a charity called SOS Africa – even adventurous Partner Kevin Whitmarsh took part – though this was small beer for the person who climbed Kilimanjaro and trekked in the Arctic for charity a couple of years back. Personally I find it amazing how many of our staff are prepared to enter the peculiarly named 10k ‘fun’ runs. We have teams running in events in Bath, Bristol and Exeter.
