Imagina gets what it Wants

and Clara Lago headline the cast of the film, based on the novel by Italian writer Federico Moccia. I Want You is a Zeta Cinema,
Antena 3 Films, Cangrejo Films and Globomedia Cine produc- tion, in collaboration with Antena 3, La Sexta and Canal Plus. Spanish distribution is handled
by Warner Bros, which will be releasing the film on June 27. Three Meters Above The Sky,
also sold by Imagina, is continu- ing to sell widely. Dragon Films has taken all of Latin America.

Gaga lines up Queen, Chef
BY JASON GRAY Japan’s Gaga has acquired Benoit Jacquot’s Berlinale opening film Farewell My Queen and Daniel Cohen’s Culinary Cinema entry The Chef. “We are working on our late 2012 and early 2013 line-up,” said the company’s head of acqui- sitions Satomi Odake. Gaga aims to extend a streak
that began with 2011’s The King’s Speech. Upcoming releases include Shame, The Iron Lady, The Artist, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Untouch- able and The Grandmasters. Gaga CEO Tom Yoda said: “We
have a strong profile overseas and believe in our acquisition skills. This results in a strong line-up and healthy box-office results.” Gaga’s EFM sales line-up includes Himizu and Wild 7.

The 18th Sarajevo Film Festival (July 6-14) will present its tribute to US director Todd Solondz. He will attend the festival and engage in Q&A sessions after screenings of his films. His works include Welcome To
The Dollhouse, Happiness, Life During Wartime and Dark Horse. Past honorees include Mike
Leigh, Stephen Frears, Todd Haynes, Ulrich Seidl, Alexander Payne and Lucrecia Martel.

BY LIZ SHACKLETON Hong Kong-based production company Three Dragons Films is launching sales on Gobi Desert- set drama Badanhelan at the EFM. The $1m film is written and
directed by Hong Kong-born Jonathan Sawon, who recently
returned to China after a stint working in film and TV produc- tion in the US. The story follows a group of
tourists who take a trip to the Mongolian desert, each with their own agenda, and end up stranded when their tour guide has an acci-
dent. Sawon shot the film on Red cameras in the Gobi Desert last October using a mixture of Chi- nese, Hong Kong and Mongolian cast and crew. The film was mostly shot in
Mandarin, with a small amount of Mongolian dialogue.
