E-Type Photoshoo
After a summer of posing on our stand at various shows 50 EE was set with the task of modelling for the camera at a photographic studio with an infinity cove measuring an enormous 15.2m x 16.8m.
The day before the shoot 50 EE was given a valet followed by some detailed cleaning. An early start meant arriving at the Studio in Banbury at 8.15am where the cleaning continued until 50 EE was gleaming.
The lights in the studio are daylight balanced constant tungsten lamps so what you see is what you get, a little bit of light adjustment and the correct positioning of the floating ceiling (measuring a staggering 11m x 6m) and I was ready to get going. After working my way through my standard shot list: side on, three quarters (see image 1) and a rear shot (this months cover) I moved on to some detailed work such as door handles, lights, bumpers, interior shots and engine bay.

With my safety shots in place it was time to get a little more adventurous, using Kino flo lights (a special fluorescent tube that doesn’t flicker) a number of 10 second exposures were taken with a view to compositing the images later in post production (see image 2). This kind of light is used in complete darkness and walked across set, leaving only a highlight in a certain place depending on the angle.
As they say time flies when you are having fun, with only a few hours of a 12 hour shoot left it was time to push on and maximise the amount of shots that could be taken in the time left, a 90 degree turn of 50 EE allowed front on shots (see image 3) including a selection of rear shots with tail lights on.
