John Beecham Goffe, banana shipper and proprietor of the Roslyn Estate (St Mary). May Farquharson (1884-1978+), proprietor of the Greenwood Estate. Imperial Direct West India Mail Service Co, established by Sir Alfred Jones (1845-1909), a Welsh shipping magnate and major shareholder in the Elder Dempster Line, began a fortnightly service between Avonmouth and Jamaica via the Turks & Caicos Is in February 1901; his company was subsumed by United Fruit Co in 1903

Jamaica Fertilizer Products Ltd, founded in 1929 by James Whiteside, an American chemical engineer, to exploit the potential of bat manure in the Windsor caves at Trelawney. Jamaica Fruit & Shipping Co Ltd, established 1919, operated a weekly service from Kingston to New York. Kingston Wharves Ltd, established 1945, exported fruit and cartons of orange concentrate to the UK
