Summit, Media Pro sign output deal Summit and Media Pro have signed a three-year output deal on all films produced by Summit, covering Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
FilmNation bags Malick duo FilmNation is handling two new Terrence Malick films: Lawless to star Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, and Knight Of Cups to star Bale and Blanchett. CAA is handling domestic rights.
Universal sees a new Angle Universal Pictures has struck a first-look deal with Angle Films, the new company jointly owned and operated by Paul Brooks’ Gold Circle Films and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions.

Lightning strikes deals for Revenant, Cat Run

Light- ning also licensed rights to Eagle Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand, Eagle Films in the Middle East and Daro in CIS. Lightning will release the film
in the US through Lightning Media and has closed home enter- tainment deals with Universal for the UK, Germany and Benelux,

thriller, based on a true story about teenagers who are caught up in violence after meeting online. Following a delay in pro- duction, the film has been recast
to star Jamie Blackley, Toby Regbo and Joanne Froggatt. As previously reported, Momen-
tum has UK rights and Alliance Films has Canadian rights. The Weinstein Company has acquired several major territories. Produc- ers include Bryan Singer, Anony- mous Content’s Steve Golin, Peter Heslop and Simon Crocker.
Cinemavault adds thrillers

winner at the Fantastic Fest in Montreal, follows a group of friends facing a supernatural force in a remote cabin.

Chinese buyers soar at AFM
Managing director Jonathan Wolf was in bullish mood on the eve of the 2011 market as he announced buyer registration was 10% ahead of last year. Wolf cited a 50% year-on-year
rise in Chinese buyers and a 30% climb in German registration, adding that 90 new buying companies had registered including maiden contingents from
Cambodia and Mongolia. Some 415 films will screen and more than 8,000 attendees are expected. Neither Wolf nor Independent
Film & Television Association CEO Jean Prewitt would be drawn on the subject of where the market will take place after the Loews contract expires following the 2012 edition. Wolf said they would be listening to feedback this year.
