make hygiene kits for the Epworth Street Ministry. They will also go at another time to the Lewis Place after school program for tutoring and fun. Union UMC held a dog walk at
Lindenwood Park which became a wonderful mixer between dog lovers of all ages and we raised money for the Humane Society in the process. First United Methodist Church
of Lebanon, had a food drive on September 9 at Wal-Mart, Price Cutter and Smitty’s grocery stores. The donations were distributed to local food pantries. Hayti First UMC totaled 600
cupcakes given away, more than 80 cars washed, over 250 hotdogs, over 150 nachos, countless snow cones, cotton candy, and popcorn served, and over 300 gospel of John books handed out plus 2 1/2 large trailer loads of trash picked up. First United Methodist had
over a 100 people completing 16 projects throughout the com- munity in addition to work at Whetstone Boys Ranch. They also participated in the community ceremonies surrounding 9/11. Maryville UMC chopped fallen
trees, painted sheds and buildings, cleaned the streets of our town, worked on school gardens, the university campus and celebrated with a community picnic includ-
ing inflatables and laser tag. Monett FUMC teams, washed
windows, cleaned houses, painted, built ramp, repaired windows, cleaned yards, visited nursing homes, worked at four nursing homes (painting, building, yard and flower beds), painted city well houses, free car wash, handed out cookies at local businesses and washed car windows, painted “paws” and cleaned flower beds at schools, and took their children to all four nursing homes to sing. They then had wonderful celebra- tion picnic in park with everyone invited At Platte Woods UMC 304 par-
ticipants served about 900 hours in eight different projects, and packed 107,500 meals at church. This link is to some pictures of
a cleanup of an historic African American Cemetery by members of First United Methodist Church of Webster Groves. Lamar UMC organized several
projects for the weekend. One of which was repainting the Good Samaritan Shop, which is a local non-profit thrift shop and food bank. Other projects included providing quarters to those doing laundry at local laundromats, washing windshields at gas sta- tions, repainting picnic tables in the city park, free senior pictures for low income students, and free
haircuts for children. In addition, Concord Trinity
baked cookies and made cards for local first responders, cleaned furniture and helped with the Freedom Walk to honor past and present service personnel. Zion UMC in Gordonville
served in two places, Jefferson Elementary in Cape Girardeau where they did grounds mainte- nance, planting and painting - and the Southeast Missouri Food Bank where they sorted food that the Bank hand purchased for six cents a pound and prepared it for distri- bution. Court Street UMC in Fulton
had a short prayer/commissioning service on Sunday morning and then headed out to the city park to give away helmets to the kids and disaster preparedness/safety materials to the adults. The police department was there to conduct bicycle safety checks. There was live praise and worship music, and the grill was full of hot dogs. Wesley-Smith Chapel in Wright

SERVE2011 weekend The Sedgewickville UMC, Invite and Send team took 54- 6” potted Mums to neighbors around the church along with flyers explain- ing what the church had planned. Fredericktown UMC took a team to three nursing homes in
the area, offered worship, music, prayer and lots of time to visit. Everybody wants to do it again soon! At Mt. Zion(west)-six people
made two cross shaped flower beds at local rural cemeteries, “A good day yesterday.”
