Security reminder


RESIDENTS and businesses have been re- minded to keep valuables securely locked away and to be aware of unscrupulous doorstep callers trying to sell something or of- fering to do work. Local residents should always check out the identity and legitimacy of any person cold calling.


THE annual Loose Community Fete is to be held on Saturday, September 3 at the King George V Playing Field, beginning at 2pm. One of the day’s highlights is the tug- of-war competition and places are still available. Any organised adult or young- ster groups, or teams from pubs etc are welcome. This year, firm rules are in place for the competition, when £100 will be up for grabs. This has been kindly donated by Albany Funerals and the parish coun- cil.

AROUND 30 members of the public attended the public consultation meet- ing to discuss Brooks Field water and wildlife project. Among the speakers were contrac-


tors and the Medway Valley Country- side Partnership, who were able to bring their expertise, and explain op- tions for de-silting the mill pond and works on the field. The committee was keen to enhance


the area by encouraging a diverse mix of wildlife habitat and flora to the parish, and to provide a robust natu- ral environment for future generations

ing the parish pavilion. There will also be a fun fair, organised


by Showtime Amusements, which will run on the Friday, 6pm to 9.30pm, Sat- urday, between 2pm and 9.30pm, and on Sunday, from 2pm to 6pm.

nity groups will be an important as- pect of the project, and will provide a better understanding of the impor- tance of field and pond. Various statutory bodies will be con-


sulted before any works are under- taken.

ments made will be on-going, and open to the public, and regular up- dates will be available on the parish council website and on noticeboards at the field.
