Old Mill news

The first half of 2011 has been an exciting time for Old Mill. We have seen a change of company name, a merger which has given us a Dorchester office, our Exeter office move into new larger edge of town premises and two new financial planners join us.

The change of company name is relatively minor in detail but reflects the evolution the company has gone through over the past few years. We now operate as Old Mill Financial Planning LLP. The main thrust of our business has moved towards a greater emphasis on planning, helping our clients plan for their future income and security, primarily through their investments and pensions. Our focus remains on the personal relationships we have with you, our clients, and how we can do the best for you.

The new Dorchester office has come about through a merger with the accounting practice of Perks Simms. Duncan Perks has joined Old Mill as a partner and all his staff have joined us as well. We are really excited

about the new office and are looking forward to building a new Financial Planning team there so we can offer our full range of services both to their existing clients and new friends.

Our office in Exeter only had one person at the time of the Old Mill management buy out in 2006. It has now grown to nearly 20 staff, including a financial planning team headed by partner Simon Cole. There are plans for further growth but we had outgrown the space available. We are delighted to report that we have moved into smart modern offices at Leeward House, Sowton only about one minute off the M5.

The two new financial planners are Jamie Thompson who joined the Shepton Mallet office during March and has taken on many of the clients of Mike Walker, our long serving and popular stalwart who has now started his well earned retirement. During May we have also been joined in the Melksham office by Phil Collard.

After such a hectic start to the year we anticipate the second half may be a bit quieter in terms of changes – but you never can tell!
