The surgical treatment involves evaluation of a mucoperiosteal flap and reshaping of the bone to eradicate the pockets and obtain an anatomy suitable for patient maintenance of a healthy periodontium
An internal bevel incision has been per- formed, a full thickness flap has been el- evated. The physiological bone contour has been altered by bone reabsorption caused by the periodontitis. The alterations can be corrected by respective bone surgery

Case study A 55-year-old male patient suffering from chronic periodontitis. Premolar and molar periodontal pockets are present with an average pocket depth of 6 to 7 mm. The patient underwent hygiene phase therapy which reduced the pockets to 5 to 6 mm.
