Le Vent du Nord is one of the most-loved Québec progressive folk outfits throughout the world. Featuring button accordion, guitar, and fiddle, the band leavens their hard-driving, soulful sounds (a close cousin to Celtic music) with New Orleans polyphony and R&B. The group received a Juno award and Top Ten Album of the Year awards from the Boston Globe and Los Angeles Times for their 2009 recording, La Part du Feu. Louisiana’s finest, the four-time Grammy-nominated Pine Leaf Boys, have made a name for themselves with their inimitable brand of Cajun music. Described as “the best new, energetic, and fun Cajun band in a very long time”(New York Times), the Pine Leaf Boys play old-fashioned dance hall standards as well as obscurities by past masters on twin fiddles, accordion, bass, and drums.

Brought together to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, this show is a star-studded tribute to the man who created a new musical genre in the fields of Kentucky. Grammy-winning guitarist Peter Rowan joined Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys in 1965 and spent two years with the group before moving onto projects like Old & in the Way with Jerry Garcia. Rowan is joined by Tony Rice—today’s premier bluegrass/newgrass guitar player—and the Travelin’ McCourys, led by Del McCoury Band members Ronnie and Rob McCoury on mandolin and banjo. Together, this all-star lineup performs the music of Monroe and pays tribute to the bluegrass patriarch with high lonesome harmony, musicianship, and style.
