IN THIS ISSUE… Dear Fellow Travellers M
y daughter Emma was given a street directory for her birthday the other day. Her friend inscribed it with a note, ‘May you never feel lost again’. It made me think of the power of words
and how we make different words mean different things and can get quite screwed up about what we decide is reality. Think about what happens to you when you are
told that someone has head lice, or what happens to your day when you decide you’ve got out of bed on the wrong side? Conversely, have you tried singing, ‘Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day?’ What happens then? If you want a more spiritual practice, finger your mala or your rosary beads, do some yogic breathing, sing a hymn or chant aum or hu, connect with a crystal or light incense or a candle – all of these are powerful interrupters and can help you move out of the mind and onto a different plane, and sometimes in an instant, depending on the associations triggered for you. Our minds are so powerful and we can choose at
any time to be their slaves or their masters. However, sometimes we get so far down – almost down the proverbial gurgler – that we cannot dig ourselves out. At times like this we need help from Spirit. If we are so far down that we cannot connect with Spirit ourselves, or indeed if we don’t believe in a universal unifying force at all, then we need outside help. This comes in the form of articles in this magazine, or books, or workshops – again in this magazine, or personal sessions with counsellors and healers – and of course you know where to find them too, or sometimes simply a billboard or an overheard conversation on the train. As you know, many people tell us the same thing
in different ways, but, if you’re like me, it takes a lot to bash something into the brain sometimes. If we’re resistant, even without knowing it, then we need to hear it many times (or go to a therapist of some sort who has the tools to help us change our minds). Bestselling author Ian Gawler’s latest book is “The Mind that Changes Everything” – see the Ripple write-up for mention of this, and he tells us that Spike Milligan said, “It is all in the mind, you know”. Gary de Rodriguez, NLP guru, in his article in this
issue points out that we have the ability to change our minds when he says, “… change doesn't happen TO you – it happens FROM you”.
Another NLP guru who has written for us in this issue, Rik Schnabel, talks about our ability to change our minds when it comes to holding resentments, and he has noticed that people holding on to resentment can release their illness when they release their resentment. This is a perfect segue into Rolf
and Christa Krahnert’s article giving us a rundown on disease, dismissing the ruling paradigms – germs, diet, smoking, genetics, etc. – and discussing the latest data on significant emotional events and how they are the trigger for illness. This is a stunning article – my personal fave in this issue. Another stunner is Martin Oliver’s on schizophrenia,
but it, sadly, didn’t fit into the print magazine, and so it will be available on LivingNow website directly (easy to find too – simply type ‘schiz’ into the ‘search articles’ box on the top left of the home page – or type the author’s name if you’d like to see more of his articles). Martin’s article, and the other articles in this
magazine, plus a few others that didn’t fit, are also to be found in ebooks under various categories, such as Empowerment, Wellness, Inspirational stories, Metaphysics, Relationships. These ebooks are free from our website, and they will be available to download after a valid email address has been confirmed. We will publish them each issue, but not every category each issue. There are details of the May ones to be found on page 4 of this magazine. I’d like to finish with Stella’s words from her
astrology article (flip over to Ripple): “... it’s time to meet the global challenges head-on by raising your own energetic vibration. You can’t stop the earthquakes and volcanoes, but you can act as an inspiration to others and embrace the joy of being alive”. Raise your vibration, or change your mind – they
both do the same job. With love

06 The way to forgiveness is 'forgetness’ Rik Schnabel Forgiveness is not so easy sometimes, but its lack can eat you up and even turn to the need for vengeance.
08 Collapsing personal delusions of gender at midlife Robyn Vickers-Willis A midlife crisis is an opportunity. It is the door to awakening to more of our self as we collapse personal delusions of gender. To not open it can haunt us for the rest of our life.
10 Enthusiasm: a key ingredient to creating your amazing life Gary de Rodriguez Gary has been fortunate to observe countless people’s breakthroughs. He says that there are several 'things' that are extremely common for those people that have experienced the biggest breakthroughs – and enthusiasm is one of them.
WELLNESS
12 Beyond risk factors – confl ict shock as the beginning of dis-ease Rolf and Christa Krahnert Are you tired of hearing about risk factors, genetics, toxins, diet, stress and germs all being the cause of disease? Do you suspect that there must be something more fundamental behind a given disease process? Is there a ‘missing link’?
