How to use this handbook:


The following pages show the list of Centurions and the events in which they qualified. Each page contains four columns of information.


The first column shows the Centurion number and when followed by a dagger  indicates that this Centurion has passed away. The figure in brackets indicates the number of times this Centurion has completed 100 miles or more in Great Britain.


The second column shows the name of each Centurion and the club he or she represented when qualifying.


The third column shows the time at 100 miles when each Centurion first qualified.


The fourth column shows the time taken at the finish of the event where it was more than 100 miles, or the distance achieved within 24 hours. Where appropriate, footnotes have been added to give further explanation.


The history of the Centurions was thoroughly researched and revised in 1996/97 for publication in an entirely new style. This edition builds on the successful format of its predecessor and brings the information up to date.


Every endeavour has been made to ensure the accuracy of information contained in the handbook, but it is inevitable that some errors may have been made. Any such discrepancies should be made known to the Hon. Secretary.


All Centurions are requested to inform the Hon. Secretary of any change of address or telephone number and to pass on the unfortunate news of the passing of fellow Centurions.
