The Westside Park, (located at NW 1st St. and Highland Ave.) features a new outdoor Aquatic Center as well as a newly updated playground, skate-park, horseshoe court, ball diamond, band shell, picnic areas and two shelters.

Games and practices are held at the youth baseball and softball diamonds within Baughman/Belatti Park. T-ball practices are held Tuesday & Thursday mornings with games played on Friday mornings during the month of June. Interlakes Youth Softball League is played on Tuesday & Wednesday nights at Baughman/ Belatti with some of the games for 14 and under, 16 and under, & 18 and under leagues being played at the Thue Softball Complex.

he Madison area boasts an aggressive schedule of opportunities for youth t-ball, softball and baseball players.
Dreams. The association includes T-ball, coach pitch, 9-10 and 11-12 year old leagues. Leagues include teams from Madison, Colman, Chester, Flandreau & Howard. Local teams playing in the VFW Teener Baseball League and Legion Baseball League utilize the Teener Diamond located in Baughman/Belatti Park and Flynn Field. Madison Broncos is the local amateur baseball team playing out of the Corn Belt League with home games being held at Flynn Field.
The Adult Men’s Softball Association (Thursday & Friday nights), Adult Women’s Softball Association (Monday & Tuesday nights), Adult Co-Ed Softball Association (Sunday nights) all host their games at the Thue Softball Complex.
The Flynn/Thue Complex (SW 8th Street and South Egan Avenue) is best known for its baseball and softball diamonds. In addition to hosting baseball diamonds, Baughman/Belatti park (110 NE 1st Street) also has soccer fields, basketball courts, and sand volleyball courts. Both parks have a playground area.
East Center Park (700 Block of East Center Street) and Totland Park (NE 7th Street and Roosevelt Avenue) both host an outdoor skating rink. East Center features a warming house and Totland Park has recently been updated with new playground equipment.
Anyone interested in Disc Golf can check out Northwest Park located at NW 9th Street and Highland Avenue. This park also has a picnic area, restrooms, and playground.
Library Park is located on the grounds of the Madison Public Library. It has a toddler playground and often is host to large outdoor events such as National Night Out and the Community Wide Picnic at the stage on the south side of the Library.

Another recreational point of interest in Madison is the 4.2 mile recreation trail that starts at Flynn Field and travels east along highway 34 to Johnson’s Point. Whether you run, bike, skate or walk you can take in all that Lake Madison has to offer while getting a little fresh air and exercise. Plans are being made to expand this trail onto highway 19 in the near future.
state parks The Lake Herman State Park has been a popular campsite for hundreds of years. It is located just west of Madison and provides a beautiful nature area for miles. The 1,350-acre lake enhances the site. Open year round, visitors and residents will find numerous opportunities which include beach access, hiking trails, camping, fishing/ boating, playground areas, picnic areas and various events throughout the year.
Walker’s Point is a small but complete park tucked along the shore of Lake Madison. This park meets the many needs of campers and anglers and is open year-round. Campsites are located near the water and many offer picturesque views of the 2,800-acre Lake Madison. Fishing, boating, playground equipment and picnicking are also offered at this park.
