Muth Family Learning Center Study Plan for Success
Good news! Many students are using the Learning Center’s quiet study space on a daily basis. Any student at Mater Dei is welcome to use this space, before school, at lunch and after school until 4 PM. The Learning Center is a small classroom space with four computer stations and a study table that can accommodate approximately 6 students at a time.
Regular visitors to the Learning Center develop positive study habits. Whether in the Learning Center or in other campus study spaces, students need to have a plan.
What a study plan looks like: 1. Have the materials with which to work and a time from start to completion in mind.
2. Finding answers to questions: • Check Edline/email teachers directly • Ask Mrs. McCune and Ms. Wilson for assistance • Seek peer assistance (available in the LC)
3. Clean out and organize binders and folders. 4. Set up “to do” lists for the week. 5. Make flash cards and get ideas and plans for projects.
This March, Mrs. McCune and Ms. Wilson will be organizing the weekly 10th grade volunteer reading enrichment program which will continue over 6 weeks. Recognizing how important study skills are to any type of learning, Mrs. McCune, Reading Specialist, will use a DVD series on how to build strong study skills and habits as a basis for this program. There may be other students invited to join this program. The key to any successful change in performance is commitment!
Invest in your personal growth, come discover all that the Muth Family Learning Center has to offer you. For more info, please call (714) 641-3694 or email Marilyn Wilson at mwilson@
