Visit ventures into Herzog’s Cave, strikes French deal
BY JEREMY KAY Visit Films will start talks with buyers here on Werner Herzog’s 3D documentary Cave Of Forgot- ten Dreams after acquiring inter- national sales excluding the UK, Japan and select television rights (see review, p22). Visit president Ryan Kampe
has already licensed French rights to Metropolitan. The Toronto pre- miere plays in special presenta- tion here on Sunday and recounts the discovery of prehistoric paint- ings in a cave in central France which date back 30,000 years. The fi lm previously sold to IFC
for the US, Picturehouse for the UK, Against Gravity for Poland and Star Sands for Japan.
Werner Herzog “We’ve been in love with the
fi lm since its Toronto premiere and are so pleased to be working with Werner and his team,” Kampe said. “His singular vision has allowed him to craft a fi lm which uses 3D to its full effect and helps bring the medium away from pop- corn movies and into fi lms of true substance and beauty.”
