Supply Chain Collaboration - a Success Story

In the last issue, FBJ reported on the new buzz phrase amongst logistics and freight professionals. Here is an example of how well supply chain collaboration can work.

Direct Food Express and Supply Chain Solution work closely on joint venture logistics. Direct Food Express, the number one temperature controlled distribution company in Europe has extended their services to SCS who were already well established providers of trailer services to UK & European Manufacturers who supplied the supermarket groups within the UK, Ireland & Europe. SCS website had been expertly developed, with key words and phrases linked to the development and promotion of both Sales and Sales Enquiries. It became apparent that a partnership was required in order for the business to grow. Direct Food Express are highly skilled and experienced in temperature controlled Airfreight and Seafreight. The Facilities, expertise and Global Presence of Direct Food Express combined with the SCS marketing strategy led to enquiries which developed business between them, and so the co-operation was borne. Enquiries turned into Samples, which turned into pallets, and pallets turned into full loads. The most recent development lead to 19,000kg airfreight orders for major UK food manufacturers from the UK to Australia. (see testimonial from Gü Puds).

Direct Food Express has a subsidiary, Direct Pharmaceutical Express who are established temperature controlled experts for the global movement of pharmaceuticals. Their services and International temp controlled specialists throughout the world provided an ideal platform for SCS to forward the enquiries for larger pharmaceutical enquiries. This co-operation led to the development of marketing strategies which combined SCS global website logistics presence with the tools to do the job. Once parameters were established, major players within the pharmaceutical industry were targeted. Leading players from various South American Companies were invited to the UK to see the operations side of the business which led to establishment of specific trade lanes from the UK to South America. Through business development strategy, a global temperature controlled data logged transport system from India servicing the global pharma industry was created with approved partners in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi & Mumbai. These ideas were jointly co-ordinated to provide both Airfreight & Seafreight services not only to the UK and Europe, but to supply Global Cross Trade Supply Lanes throughout the world
