Two Evance R9000 turbines generate power
to support arable farm. Turbines will dramatically reduce electricity bill and
enable Feed-in Tariff income.
An arable farm in Derbyshire is now harnessing the wind to contribute to its energy requirements while lowering its carbon footprint using two Evance R9000 turbines.
Hallmark Tractors, a renowned supplier to the farming community and a distributer for Evance Wind Turbines, a leader in the manufacture of small wind turbines, supplied and installed the two Evance 5kW wind turbines on 18m towers.
The power generated by the turbines will be used to contribute towards the power consumed by the farm’s grain dryer and the engineering business located on the farm. Any electricity not used will be fed into the
national grid. The turbines are expected to generate enough energy to meet over fifty per cent of the farm's requirements, so will dramatically reduce the electricity bill and enable Feed-in Tariff (FiT) income.
“The fact that the R9000 has no gearbox, which greatly increases its reliability and durability, as well as reducing maintenance costs, and that the turbine is manufactured in the UK, were both important factors in
making my choice” commented Mr Will Smith of Covert Farm, Derbyshire. “Having the Hallmark team's support through every phase, from the initial wind
survey, grant and planning applications to the installation, was invaluable.”
“Having completed the Microgeneration Certification Scheme Phase 2 requirements the Evance R9000 is eligible for Government's new Feed-in Tariff – a reward
for generating your own electricity from renewable sources” stated Jim Nash, Managing Director of Hallmark Tractors. “So with the Feed-in Tariff and the fact that this is a highly efficient turbine we are seeing a high level of interest in the R9000 – currently we have over 18 applications in planning.”
Together with an operational life of over 20 years, existing installations averaging over 99% up time and
eligibility for the FiT, the Evance R9000 can make a significant contribution to reducing the cost of a farm's power - providing power to light poultry sheds or cattle sheds, running milking equipment for dairy farmers and powering a grain dryer for arable farms.
