Our Picture Library provides images from the world’s finest collection of maritime art and artefacts.
Our vast and varied collection of 2.5 million items includes oil paintings, photographs, charts, prints and drawings, ship models, rare books and manu- scripts, navigational and horological instruments, and ship plans. We also have contemporary pho- tography of Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring the Old Royal Observatory, the Queen’s House, the Royal Naval College and the Cutty Sark.

Specialities: The Museum’s collection reflects the centrality of the sea to British life and history, and covers themes of trade, empire, exploration,

industry and time. Our latest permanent gallery, Atlantic Worlds, looks at the interrelationship, con- nections and exchanges created between Britain, Africa and the Americas between 1600-1850, studying the impact of empire on three continents.
