Time Off - Local Garden Visits Three Cotswolds gardens you must visit this summer...


1. Spetchley Park


This stunning 30-acre Victorian estate, set in glorious countryside, has belonged to the Berkeley family since 1605. Over the years it has been lovingly created by successive generations to stunning effect. It boasts an enviable collection of worldwide plant treasures. Rare trees and shrubs make this a plantsman’s paradise. A wonderful sanctuary to relax in and take in the views. Surprises greet you at every turn and with no set route you are free to meander and take in the superb collections. With a ‘knobbly knee tree’ and the wildlife, the children will find plenty to do too!

3. Whitcombe House


Many visitors to Whitcombe House enjoy the extraordinary sense of peace this 1-acre stone-walled garden envelops them in. Take your time to enjoy the summer colours and the reds and yellows of the hot borders. Water-loving primulas are growing to stunning effect along the banks of the stream where mini-waterfalls and the Captain’s Bridge can also be found. The backdrop to the garden is an ancient church set in the beautiful village of Overbury. Roses and stocks fill the air with a heavenly scent to add to the tranquillity. A kitchen garden and fig tree also help to make this an informal garden with plenty to see and relish.

2. Beggars Knoll


Beggars Knoll is one of the few Chinese gardens in England


A wonderful garden in which to relax and enjoy the peace and serenity. As one of the few Chinese gardens in England there is much to see and absorb as you slowly wander through the decorative gateways taking in the ponds and three
