NAKMAS PROFILE


Chinese arts for NAKMAS for the last ten years. He has recently been appointed as the Equality Champion, a post which he is really looking forward to undertaking on behalf of NAKMAS.

Chris began his martial arts career 38 years ago when, at the age of 14, he joined the local martial arts club, rather than the Boxing club which his brothers joined. Martial arts took hold then and he has never stopped training, study- ing and teaching in various arts since. He presently holds the grade of 6th Degree in Kung Fu awarded by the governing body, NAKMAS.


He formed the Oriental Martial Arts Society 23 years ago and ran a full time academy in Edinburgh promoting martial arts to all age groups which included Kung Fu, Judo, Karate, Kendo, Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do and involved instructors, all at the top of their own particular martial arts tree, in the teachings at the acad- emy. Many of these instructors became life long friends who Chris still keeps in touch with.


After 38 years of training Chris knows all the benefits that martial arts can give and passes these on to his students. “We all have different fitness levels and personal goals and I strive to help
