Whether your worship services are contemporary, blended, emergent, convergent, or any other modern style, this is the place for you. To be honest, it has been quite diffi- cult to label this interest area with the stylistic varieties of our worship services. This is one of the reasons I appreciate the United Methodist Church so much. Diversity is a good thing! Let’s embrace our uniqueness! So, whether you know how to label your worship service stylistically or not, most likely, this is the place for you.

Nevertheless, the main objective in our worship services does not regard style. It is about content.What connects all of us, as unique and diverse as our worship services may be, is that our worship is grounded in God’s HolyWord and led by His Spirit. So, as we journey together designing and implementing powerful experiences of worship, may we be reminded that if the content of God’sWord (Truth) and the leading of His Spirit are not present, then style becomes the ultimate goal and not the vehicle to pre- sent the message. This is the great challenge for those of us who lead modern style worship services!

With this said, however, it is important for us to realize that style does play a pivotal role in worship preference for many people in the 21st century. That is why this interest area exists. Each quarter, this interest area will produce a newsletter to bring you the latest in modern worship news, relevant articles, and resource suggestions. It can be very difficult to keep up with our constantly changing culture, so it is our goal to bring you the best resources for your worship ministry.
