INTO THE PIT: THE SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT DEADPIT.COM
Country: USA Year: 2009 Dir: Kelly Marcott Runtime: 94mins Language: English Format: Digibeta
The web is the greatest democratiser of our time, giving a voice to even the most marginalised, such as Wes Vance and Aaron Frye, the hosts of www.deadpit.com. Dead Pit is an internet radio station dedicated to horror movies, run by The Creepy Kentuckian and Uncle Bill, from a single room in Prestonsburg, an old coalmining town in Kentucky where this duo is a bit of an anomaly. These self- confessed rednecks are the horror genre’s equivalent of Harry Knowles – fan boys who got famous and respected within the horror community – doing what they love, in spite of their thick Kentucky accents.
See what can be achieved with a couple of microphones, passion and an Internet connection.

PAX AMERICANA AND THE WEAPONISATION OF SPACE
Country: France/Canada Year: 2010 Dir: Denis Delestrac Runtime: 88mins Language: English Format: Digibeta Source: Direct
Star Wars didn’t only happen a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, it’s also happening now. With 50% of the satellites orbiting our planet owned by the US government and US corporations they have a vested interest in protecting them. If they were attacked they would cause the collapse of society as we know it. All the world’s super powers want to protect their interests in outer space but, as we saw during the Cold War, the line between offence and defence is blurred and we are entering into a new arms race. This documentary examines this 21st century space race, with unprecedented access to US government agencies and space development corporations springing up in the US. It is not a polemic, but a balanced view of what is happening outside the Earth’s atmosphere.
This must-see doc certainly puts a question mark after Life in 2050.
