‘Stuff a Bus’ nets 11 tons of food
The two-day “Stuff-a-Bus”
food drive at four area
Ingles locations, including
Weaverville, resulted in
the collection of 11 tons
of food for area students
and monetary donations
of more than $10,000. The
food will be distributed
to area students each
Friday for their use during
the weekend and during
spring break through
the Hearts With Hands
“Bakpak Bunch” program.
Nearly 12,000 Buncombe
County School students
receive free or reduced
meals each week that
account for 50 percent
of their daily nutrition.
Many of these students
do not receive sufficient
nutrition at home on non-
school days.
