4-11 NEWS Highlights from the UK education sector 7 VIEWS

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the final issue of Education Today for this school year. With the summer holidays now looming, I’m sure your thoughts are turning to getting away from it all for a well-deserved break, but before you go, we have a great issue of the magazine for you this month.

Features-wise, we lead with our annual school suppliers feature. This is designed to give you an idea of the enormous number of companies out there helping you as practitioners to do your jobs – from messaging solutions providers to companies providing world-beating online learning resources, we’re sure there’ll be something there for you.

Talking of the summer holidays, our second feature offers an interesting look at getting primary school children ready for secondary school – using residential summer camps provided by the Outward Bound Trust. It’s a great idea and I’m sure there are plenty of ideas to take away from it. And to top off the summer holiday theme, we have a comment on the subject of taking children out of school during term time from a legal expert familiar with the issue.

We also continue our series on the members of BESA (the UK trade body for suppliers to the education sector) with a look at Classroom Monitor and YPO.

We have all the news, comment and insight you'd expect, and remember, you can get in touch with us via Twitter, Facebook and our homepage, as well as by phone or email. We love hearing from you!

Enjoy the issue and see you in September! Jonathan Swift - Managing Editor

With VSO volunteer Ken Longden, and Patrick Hayes, Director at BESA 8 BESA CORNER With Classroom Monitor and YPO 12 CONTRIBUTORS
