In addition, all major service points are centralised for easy access from the central service platform, with all systems and design solutions simplifi ed to facilitate maintenance. All of these features promote fast service, enabling average service time to be reduced to a minimum. T e machine’s high uptime is also possible thanks to its 30 hours of fuel autonomy in standard confi guration and its impressive fuel burn effi ciency.


Reliability in extreme conditions T e R 9200 has been designed to fully answer requirements of the mining industry. In addition to the considerable integration of components designed in-house by Liebherr, the machine’s design is inspired by larger, proven Liebherr mining shovels and new technologies of the new generation excavators. T e undercarriage employs the ‘hook & key’ system with horizontal bolting to link between the side frame and central piece for high torsion resistance and is equipped with heavy duty rock protectors, preventing accidental component damage. To promote hydraulic components and diesel engine continuous effi ciency, the R 9200


includes various advanced features to support cooling effi ciency of sub-systems, avoiding overheating. T is is particularly appreciated in conditions such as those at Beeshoek, where temperatures frequently reach up to 50°C (122 °F). T e R 9200 is powered by a single Cummins QSK38 diesel engine, delivering a gross power output of 810kW (1,086hp). Ensuring the optimal balance of energy consumption and power output, the machine maximises the net power that is available for the working proces. Fitted with the Litronic Plus system for intelligent power management and using a closed-loop swing circuit, the R 9200 achieves super-fast cycle times as measured at 23 seconds at Beeshoek. XHD bucket to load material with a loose density of 2.3t/m³ (3,878lb/yd³), Basil Read’s R 9200 effi ciently loads 100t dump trucks in fi ve passes. A performance study conducted at the Beeshoek mine demonstrated the machine was able to achieve an average production of 1,850 tonnes per hour. ●
