S

oldiers from Attack Company, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regi- ment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, along with 54th Brigade Engineer Bat- talion, conducted mutually beneficial training at an abandoned Russian radar facility in Skrunda, Latvia, July 22. The training, which included explosive breaching and building-clearing tech- niques, further demonstrated the com- mitment and continued partnership between the U.S. Army and NATO allies in Eastern Europe. allowed for dynamic training opportuni- ties. The buildings once housed Russian troops as they monitored radar equip- ment at the site. Soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade currently are deployed across Europe as part of Operation Atlantic Re- solve*, an ongoing, multinational part- nership focused on joint training and security cooperation between the U.S. and its NATO allies. Operation Atlantic Resolve will remain in place as long as the need exists to reassure U.S. allies and deter Russia from regional hegemony. — Capt. Albert Jernegan, USA

Adm. Norbert R. Ryan Jr., USN (Ret), also will meet and walk with senior government of- ficials and accompany the secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Presiden- tial Armed Forces Full Honor Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
