With no hotels, only beauti- ful rental homes, the beach’s biggest draw is its island-like appeal that leaves visitors feeling a world away, though they’re only a 20-minute drive fromthe bustling Virginia Beach boardwalk.


When you find that peaceful spot, stop and take the time to relax on a blanket or in a beach chair near the water’s edge. Be sure to slip a book in your beach bag and spend the day soak- ing up the rays and turning pages.
