It’s all in the timing I
t’s proving to be a busy time in the trade. Many major TV manufacturers have decided that 2015 is the year that
Spring deserves its chance in the limelight and have dragged release dates forward. Rather than the usual early-Summer releases, we’ll be seeing the shiniest new products on shelves from late March and early April, with some rolling into May. Historically we’re also entering a period of
increased investment in home improvements, with consumers who have lasted the winter on a juddering old fridge deciding to make an investment before it gives up the ghost entirely. We’re also seeing improving consumer confidence, and a burgeoning willingness to spend on big ticket items once more. All combined, it looks set to be a hectic few months for retailers. Timing has also been pulled into focus
elsewhere, with the announcement that the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 is to be moved from its June/July window to November and

for Apple, with an update and release date reveal of its Apple Watch coinciding with the changing of the clocks (in the USA, at least) on March 9. The American company’s ‘Spring Forward’ launch will be hoping to catapult interest in wearables forward too, which may have a knock on effect to the rest of the marketplace. Watch this space.
