Light side
Lutherans & light bulbs D
uring worship at United in Christ Lutheran Church, Morrisonville, Wis., the light went out above the pulpit, leaving it in darkness. Pastor paused while he and another
member replaced the bulb. The congregation chuckled as someone asked, “How many Lutherans does it take to screw in a light bulb?” and I offered up: “Three. One to replace the bulb and two to complain that they liked the old one better.” Gloria Walsworth Morrisonville, Wis.
Reading in the dark When we started reading the Psalm responsively instead of singing it, the lector gave direction by referring the bold print to the “dark side” of the congregation. Many folks enjoyed the Star Wars reference and thought we ought to use it every week. Aimee Bruno Milwaukie, Ore.
Confirmation lingo In answer to a sermon note question regarding the main point of my sermon, I received this reply: “Sometimes you might feel totally weird, but all the weirdos are welcome here.” I don’t remember saying that—but preach it sister! Geoff Sinibaldo Old Saybrook, Conn.
