If you think

minerals processing is tough on a product, you should meet our R&D team.

It’s a team that’s constantly developing new alloys and elastomers. And constantly putting them through the toughest, most rigorous tests. Fact is, nobody is more serious – and more demanding – when it comes to research and development than Weir Minerals. The Weir Minerals R&D Group was formed more than 40 years ago, and today has become a multi-location, multi-discipline team of engineers, chemists, metallurgists and physicists. Their charge is to develop the Weir Minerals materials of the future, well in advance of market needs. They work years ahead, projecting and anticipating future customer applications and mining locations. And put new materials through rigorous, multiple-step processes, including ovens that exceed 3,000 degrees C. A big effort and responsibility that, oddly enough, starts rather small. A tiny 2 x .5 centimetre alloy “button,” for example, is thoroughly tested and retested to earn its keep as a new Weir material. Then and only then does it become a part of a Weir Minerals product. Why use industry-leading research and development to create products that last? Because it matters. Weir Minerals, Material Matters®.
