Trapping Worms While most plants’ leaves grow aboveground, most of the leaves of this next plant do not. Scientists discovered a unique kind of plant with underground leaves. It’s a meat-eater, too. It finds its food below

the ground, though. Under sandy soil in Brazil, a network of leaves spread out from the plant. T e leaves are very small. T ey’re about the size of a pinhead. A sticky gum oozes from each leaf. T e gum

attracts tiny worms that live in the soil. Worms inch along through the soil. When one touches a leaf, it gets stuck. T e leaves absorb the worm and digest its nutrients.

This sundew has two kinds of leaves that work together to catch prey.
