Agenda Item 6: Any other business Panama Canal


A film was shown on the Expansion of the Panama Canal and representatives from the Panama Canal Unions informed the conference regarding the campaign and requested solidarity to support them in the fight against the Panama Canal Authority. The Panama Canal Unions thanked the ITF and Latin American Regional Office.


The ILWU pledged their continued support to this project, including any cross sectional intervention that may be required.


The Section Secretary informed the Conference that the ITF handed a Freedom of Association complaint to the ILO Secretary General at a meeting earlier this week.


The Conference agreed to support the struggle related to the attack on working conditions due to the expansion of the Panama Canal.
