PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Inside knowledge

How do you make sense of unprecedented change that’s all around you? Do you hope you have the skills and tools to succeed, or do you actively invest in yourself? Does your organisational DNA encourage learning, and does it effectively exploit the collective knowledge it builds? FIPP’s VP, Christine Huntingford, investigates.

With today’s high levels of change and uncertainty, no-one is exempt from continuous professional development. Uncertain futures require the ability to think critically, to be prepared for change and to deal with challenges and opportunities in the most constructive and effective way. This often requires new ways of thinking and doing, in day-to-day tasks and longer-term

strategic planning and execution. At FIPP, we know from our members’

feedback that ongoing development is one of the core reasons members engage with us. We are fortunate to be able to tap into a global network of members, to provide a platform for thought leadership and the sharing of highly relevant and current knowledge (formally and informally) across the world –

from within and from outside the industry. This happens through our events and insight channels, but most important here, through our dedicated training programmes and tours, tailor-made for media professionals – whether a rising star or at the pinnacle of their careers. Here are three FIPP programmes designed to address your professional needs.

01 DMI: DEEP-DIVE INTO DIGITAL

Not only is digital marketing an essential component of business today, but its importance also continues to grow at an astounding rate. The field is diverse, from search to social to mobile and more, including smart data and analytics at the core. To help with access to the most current digital marketing thinking and understanding of future demands, FIPP has partnered with the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI) to offer accredited digital courses. We work closely with DMI, a global accreditation body for

digital education, to facilitate access to the DMI’s faculty of leading digital experts, people with a wealth of experience to draw on. The courses are flexible too. Participants can choose to either do individual modules - a ‘crash course’ if you want to address specific gaps within your existing skills

set - or you can do more extensive and intensive learning by taking one of their diplomas (Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing and Mobile Marketing).
